Oasis and Harry Styles

Liam Gallagher isn’t known for heaping praise on others, but the former Oasis singer had some nice(ish) things to say about Harry Styles’ debut album, admitting “there’s some interesting bits in it.”

Speaking to NME in a rare long-form interview to promote his new solo single, “Wall of Glass,” — which premieres on Wednesday (May 31) on Radio 1 — and upcoming debut solo album, As You Were, Gallagher said he can sympathize with Styles’ conundrum coming out of a very famous group.

“I don’t mind it, man. There’s some interesting bits in it,” Gallagher told NME about Styles’ classic-rock inspired self-titled debut album. “I mean, I don’t know how it f–king goes, but fair play to him. I’m sure, like, it’s a bigger f–king cost. I’ve got the weight of Oasis still hanging over me and I’m sure I’ll always be that guy from Oasis, so I’m sure he’s carrying an equal weight. If he wants to get out of that pop world and into something with a bit more substance I think that’s a good thing.”
